The Oyster Ridge Music Festival is proud to be the home of the official Wyoming State Flatpick and Fingerpick Guitar Contests.

 

The State Flatpick Guitar Contest started in 1994 here in Kemmerer, Wyoming. A few years later the State Fingerpick Guitar Contest was added to the venue. This is the official Flatpick and Fingerpick guitar contests for the state of Wyoming. The contests are accredited by the Walnut Valley Association. They are the sponsors of the International Flatpick and Fingerpick Guitar Championship Contests that are held in Winfield, Kansas annually.

 

The lucky winner of each contest may compete in the Walnut Valley Festival, held the third week-end in September each year. As part of the State Contest prize package, admission and entry into the National Contests are provided. Our state winners compete with nearly 40 of the top flatpickers and fingerpickers from around the world. The competition is stiff but several Wyoming champions have gone on to win the International title in Winfield.
